Happiness is something so many people search for every day, yet they are unable to get it. They think that happiness can be achieved if they have a better situation. It is the common belief system of society that a good job, expensive items etc. provide happiness in life. But the real happiness of life is something beyond these materialistic items. Real happiness can’t be achieved with money.

First of all, we have to understand what is real happiness in life. To identify real happiness we must look for our all possessions. We must search for the things we like to do. It could be painting, music, reading etc. These things will give you real happiness in life.

So often we think that if we have this or that then we will be happy. But have you ever thought happiness is something different from life conditions? The conditions like a better life, job, house, etc. can not give us happiness.

We waste our valuable time thinking about the ideal conditions of life and end up feeling more miserable most of our lives.

Most people think that happiness is just like feeling like other feelings, but happiness is the way of life. It is our state of mind if we feel happy then we are happy otherwise nothing in this world can make you happy. So feel happiness in every part of your life, you will be surprised to see happiness all around you.

Happiness can be achieved if we follow some simple rules of life. Some of the rules are as follows:-

1.Live in Present is the key to happiness 

Most people think either past or future. They forgot to live in the present time. This creates a kind of anxiety and depression. This is the main reason for misery. Therefore we must live in present. As we know, yesterday is gone and the future cannot be promised. So always focus on the present. It is rightly said, “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Most people destroy their life thinking about the past and future, they never focus on their present actions.  The result of this thinking not only destroy their happiness but also their chances of getting success in their life As they are unable to use their maximum effort in the present.

To achieve anything in life we must act in the present. The past and future could be used for analysing the various conditions of life, but don’t always think about them. Just focus on the present and do with your maximum effort to achieve success in your life.

 

2.Control your thinking to have happiness in life

The average number of thoughts a person has in a day is approx. 70000 thoughts. So most of the thoughts should be avoided because they have no significance in your life. These unnecessary thoughts engage us. So with these overburdened thoughts, we become unhappy. These unnecessary thoughts can be controlled with the two basic techniques. They are as follows:-

i) Interrupt and replace techniques

ii) Remove them altogether

In the first technique, the incoming thoughts are interrupted by the mind and it is replaced by some fruitful thoughts. These can be done with practice. In this way, the subconscious mind is programmed to replace bad thoughts with good ones.

The second technique is the basis for meditation. In this, all the thoughts are removed altogether to achieve the state of thoughtlessness. This technique requires a lot of practice. It is a very effective method to achieve the ultimate happiness in life.

 

 

3.Learn to forgive for happiness

“To err is human while forgiveness is the attribute of divine” This is the main hurdle in the path of achieving happiness. Most people don’t forgive others or themselves. But in this process, they lose all the happiness of their life. So forgiveness is very important. Forgiveness provides peace of mind and a peaceful mind can easily achieve happiness.

To forgive someone is one of the toughest things to do so don’t expect it from a weaker person. When we forgive someone we lose all our ego and embrace happiness and peace of mind.

Once a great sage said that ” I always forgive others not because he deserves it but I deserve the peace of mind”. So it is the best way to achieve happiness in life. 

Forgiveness should be given without any expectation in return. Expectation will degrade the value of forgiveness and it will not provide you peace of mind and happiness. It should be pure in our mind and heart.

 

4.Practice acts of kindness

If you really want to be happy in a short period of time kindness is the key. It not only makes us happy but also makes us good human beings. By the practice of kindness, we can achieve the greatest happiness in life.

Kindness is the greatest virtue of humankind. It is a very rare quality but can be acquired with certain techniques, The person values the importance of life. He is always ready to help others. So we must develop the quality of kindness in us. It will give us eternal peace of mind and happiness in life.

It shows us the real value of life. With kindness, we develop some hidden qualities in ourselves that we can use to enhance our life. It gives us some motivation to do something good in our life. A kind person always thinks to help others without any expectations.

So be kind and be happy. There is no secret ingredient of happiness. It is kindness that can make us happy and satisfied.

5.Nurture relationships for happiness in life

In the present social life, relationships are broken very easily because of various social and personal constraints like job, individual identity, culture, etc. The person with damaged relationships can’t be happy. The relationships can be nurtured to make them strong and long-lasting. Those who have good relations have good peace of mind which can lead to happiness in life.

All the factors of life are interconnected like work, family, friend and other aspects of life. So if we have an imbalance then all will be affected. A good relationship is the symbol of happiness and peace of mind. So we must seek ways to nurture our relationships.

6.Avoid over-thinking and social comparison for happiness

“Overthinking is the root cause of all the sorrow in the world”

“Human life is simple but we keep on making it complicated by the act of overthinking and social comparisons.”

The overthinking and social comparisons take away all the happiness of life. Overthinking unnecessarily wastes our time and energy for thoughts that may not happen in reality. In the same way, the social comparisons increase the inferiority complex in us which is very dangerous.

Every person has a unique set of talents and characteristics and that should be nurtured rather than comparing those qualities with others.

When we compare ourselves to others, we ignore our qualities and values. Generally, we make ourselves miserable while comparing to others. So comparing robs all the happiness and values of our life.

Most people never understand the unique quality of their own. They always devalue their own set of abilities. It lacks your confidence and degrades the chances of success in life.

Everyone has different conditions in their life they have a different set of responsibilities. So we must think of it before making any comparisons. 

In the last, We must have self-confidence in our own ability to face any situation in life. So don’t compare just have confidence in yourself. You are going to do wonders in your life. All the happiness of the world will be yours.

7.Develop strategies for coping up 

Some problems in life are inevitable. Therefore we develop some techniques for coping with those problems. Some of them are as follows:

  • Humour
  • Seeking support
  • Problem-solving rather than avoiding
  • Relaxation
  • Recreation
  • Adjustment of expectations
  • Stop Saying YES always
  • Self-blame

Humour can weaken most of the problems in our life. So always find time to have some humour in your life. You will feel happy and satisfied. Never hesitate to seek help from your loved ones and be ready to help also. You can also use some relaxation techniques for coping with various problems of life.

Stop saying “YES” always to everyone. It will create problems for your life and liberty. So by setting priorities in life we can get real happiness in life.
